Welcome to the School Of Success (SOS) Academy Charter Middle School’s web site. I hope that your visit here will be educationally profitable for you. A greater hope is that we will all be blessed by you and your child(ren) becoming a part of the SOS family.

After working in public education as both a teacher and administrator in middle school for 16 years, in 1995, God gave me the vision to create a middle school environment that is conducive to learning, with a professionally trained staff that is sensitive to the needs of later childhood/young adolescent children, foster concerns for each child’s personal growth and intellectual, aesthetic, and psychological development and encourage and stimulate parental involvement in the planning and implementation of each child’s personal educational plan. Therefore, in August 1997, SOS Academy was opened in current location on Jacksonville’s Westside. From that day forth, we truly believe that “ALL” children are possibilities and we therefore, see all students as potential achievers.

This special program is needed because middle school is a time if change. The work load and social adjustments are greater than that at the elementary level. You will find many helpful, important sources of information for transitional period on our site. Other information will be given in our orientation sessions. In addition, the staff at SOS Academy stands ready to assist you at all times.

To all our stakeholders, we are pleased to have you as a partner in this educational year. As the year progresses, and as you become either more informed or more puzzled, we encourage you to call and talk with those who might be of help. If your question deals with in-class events, please ask to speak with the teacher. If it deals with the overall program, curriculum or activities, please contact me directly.

In closing, one of our goals is to see the parents and guardians of students – like the students themselves – feel at home at SOS Academy. We are glad to have you with us this year, and we want to assure you that we will do our best to help your child experience academic, social, and emotional growth.
